career in toxicology

toxicology is a branch of chemistry, biology and pharmacology addition with the study of the adverse effects of living organisms and chemicals.

study also includes harmful effects of chemical, physical and biological agents in biological systems responsible for damage in living organism. various factors influence are chemical toxicity, route of exposure, dosage, age, sex, species, and environment.

toxicology is observing and detection of symptoms, mechanismsand treatments. it may be due to environmental agents, chemical agents of nature, pharmaceutical compounds that may cause toxic effects in living organisms. final aim of toxicity study is to identify adverse effects of a agents that may be due to routes of exposure and dose.

For toxicity study, substances are tested for both chronic and acute models. generally, various groups of experiments are to be conducted for determination of whether causes cancer or other forms of toxicity. toxicity experiments may be conducted in silico (in a computer simulation), or in vitro (testing on isolated cells or tissues), or in vivo (using the whole animal)

branches of toxicology: there are few branches of toxicology, that focus on various aspects of toxicology like, medical toxicology, chemical toxicology, clinical toxicology, aquatic toxicology, environmental toxicology, eco-toxicology, occupational toxicology, forensic toxicology, regulatory toxicology and toxicogenomics.

career opportunities: toxicology as profession is very important, to identify potentially harmful effects of products in humans those exposed to in daily lives. Other than toxicologists no one understand what could be potentially poisons or harmful for living things as well as environment.

Study in toxicology field has so many subdivisions. aspirants can pursue certificate, diploma, graduate or postgraduate courses in their respective areas of interest. toxicologist study about mathematics, biology, veterinary sciences, physiology, pathology, immunology, and genetics. Even they have to use their knowledge to reduce or control exposure to these chemicals and to save living things and environment.

to become a toxicologist candidate must have science stream at level of senior secondary. after that one can choose a bachelor degree in chemistry, botany, zoology, medicine, biochemistry, veterinary science, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy, environmental biology, microbiology or some other life science based discipline.
